Michael Denison

Biography

Michael is Group Political Advisor at BP. Since 2013 he has helped BP understand and respond to the political environment and advised on strategic business decisions on topics such as new country entry or major capital investments.

 

Michael was formerly Global Research Director for Control Risks, the international business risk consultancy, where he led a team of 60 analysts and consultants providing global political and security risk analysis for government and corporate clients. Michael previously worked as Special Adviser to the former UK Foreign Secretary, David Miliband. Working in the Foreign Secretary’s private office, he was responsible for delivering global policy advice.

He started his career at KPMG but moved into academia as Lecturer in International Security at the University of Leeds and Visiting Lecturer at the University of St Andrews. Michael holds an MA in Modern History from Oxford University, where he was the Frampton Prize scholar, and a PhD. from the University of Leeds.
