Ammaarah Nilfadeen

Biography

Ammaarah Nilafdeen is a researcher based in Sri Lanka and a 2023 Next Generation Foresight Practitioner Fellow, as well as a recipient of the 2024 NGFP Impact Award. Over the past five years, she has worked with both governmental and non-governmental institutions on research focused on youth political participation, religious freedom and the social and civic inclusion of marginalised communities in Sri Lanka. In 2024, Ammaarah co-created the Peace and Security Hub within the NGFP network: a space for members working at the intersection of peacebuilding and foresight to connect, share knowledge and collaborate. Through her fellowship and ongoing work, she is committed to embedding ethical and participatory research practices by challenging extractive methodologies and experimenting with community-led, foresight-informed approaches.
