Our Six-week course for National Strategy Planners

This course covers a subset of the teaching in the 10-week course but tailored to the challenges of delivering the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The course focuses on the challenge of taking a systemic approach to futures in order to achieve goals that require ministries, business and international agencies to work outside their silos.   

In order to deliver the ambitious vision of the Global Goals, governments need to move away from previous command and control methods, towards emergent strategic planning. But it needs to be used in an anticipatory way; capability needs to be developed ahead of critical milestones such as the next round of national planning.

Foresight offers you a systematic and participative process for engaging with uncertainty and looking beyond the expected, while facilitating resilience and adaptability. 

Over the last 20 years, the practice of strategic foresight has been growing, adopted by governments in Singapore, Costa Rica, Finland and Rwanda, among many others.

This course is aimed at those who have a role in national strategy, in countries where achieving the sustainable development goals will be crucial but where foresight has not been commonly used. 

This course is designed to help you both deliver and to build capability within a regional or national ecosystem. 

At SOIF, we have brought foresight with impact to the hearts of countries including Oman, UK, Malaysia, Chile and organisations such as the UN and OECD.
